Anvisa approves new regulations for food labeling
After a 6 years debate, Anvisa’s Board approved a new regulatory framework for food labeling during its meeting held on October 8th, 2020. According to the Collegiate Board Decision RDC ANVISA Nº 429, of October 8th, 2020 (RDC, in the Portuguese acronym) and the Normative Instruction IN # 75 of October 9th, 2020 (IN, in the Portuguese acronym) approved during this meeting, foodstuff and beverages with high levels of added sugar, sodium and/or saturated fat shall bear mandatory warnings.
