Access and benefit sharing: Ministry of Environment will start to regularize ABS operations on November 6th

Besides regularizing ABS activities, SISGEN will enable the user to:
 
i) Register any access to Brazilian genetic resources and traditional knowledge;
ii) Register the sending of samples of Brazilian genetic resources sent for the performance of specific services abroad;
iii) Register the remittance of samples of Brazilian genetic resources;
iv) Notify a final product or reproductive materials;
v) Request authorization to access genetic resources or traditional knowledge in situations when the law demands prior approval of the National Security Council and the Navy;
vi) Request registration of entities that maintain   collections with samples of Brazilian genetic resources;
vii) Obtain official documents attesting the registration of ABS, remittance of samples and other notifications;
viii) Obtain certification attesting the status of the proceedings; and
ix) Request certifications attesting the regularity of ABS activities.
